O projekte

Rizikový trend poklesu zrážok, suché horúce počasie a zvyšujúca sa intenzita efektu tepelného ostrova spôsobená klimatickou zmenou  iniciovala spoluprácu mesta Michalovce s mestom Nyírbátor zameranú na implementáciu pilotných vodozádržných opatrení ako možných zelených a modrých riešení, ktoré pomôžu ozdraviť nielen klímu a znížiť dopadov klimatickej zmeny v mestách, ale aj nepriamo ekonomiku regiónov.
Aktivity nášho projektu, Zelená vode,  sú primárne zamerané na zachytenie dažďovej vody zo striech a spevnených plôch budov a areálov v majetku miest, prerušenie odtoku dažďovej vody do verejnej kanalizačnej siete a následné  vytvorenie dažďových záhrad, dôležitá zástavba zelene na v súčasnosti nevyužívanom mestskom pozemku, zachytávanie dažďovej vody vo vodných nádržiach  pre potreby zavlažovania zelene. Súčasťou aktivít je aj výsadba stromov, stromových alejí a zelene.

Project Description

The risk trend of decreasing precipitation quantity, dry hot weather, and increasing intensity of the heat island effect caused by climate change has initiated the cooperation between the town of Michalovce and Nyirbator aimed at the implementation of pilot water retention measures and possible green and blue solutions which can help to heal not only the climate and reduce the effects of climate change in towns, but also indirectly the economy in the two regions.
Activities of our project, Green to Water, are primarily focused on rainwater collection from roofs and paved surfaces of the buildings and areas in town´s property, interrupting rainwater runoff into the public sanitary sewers and consequently creating rain gardens, significant green space development on a currently unused municipal property, retaining of rainwater in water reservoirs for the needs of greenery irrigation. Part of the activities is planting trees, tree alleys and greenery.

Partnerstvo ako výhoda

Zámerom projektu je spojiť dva prihraničné regióny, ktoré spájajú spoločné výzvy ako čeliť prehrievaniu vzduchu a vysušovaniu miest, ako zadržiavať dažďovú vodu v krajine a tým prispieť k ozdraveniu klímy.  Rôzne druhy navrhovaných riešení budú pre obidve mestá vzájomnou inšpiráciou a neoceniteľnou pomôckou pri riešení uvedených výziev.
Do projektu zapájame nového partnera z Maďarska v snahe vytvoriť spoluprácu nielen s partnermi prihraničného regiónu, ale rozšíriť spoluprácu aj s partnerom zo susednej župy Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg Vármegye  ako historicky aj geograficky blízkeho regiónu s cieľom udržateľnosti spolupráce aj po ukončení projektu.

Benefits of the cooperation

Both regions share common challenges how to face overheating of the air and drying out of towns, how to retain rainwater in the country and thereby contribute to the climate recovery. Different types of proposed solutions will be a mutual inspiration for both towns and an invaluable help with the mentioned challenges.
We have involved a new partner from Hungary in the project in an effort to create cooperation not only with the partners from the border region, but also to widen cooperation with a partner from the neighbouring county of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg Vármegye as historically and geographically close region with the aim of sustaining the cooperation even after the end of the project.
